Mallards in Flight
The Easter break provided me with the perfect opportunity to capture wildlife early in the morning. I would normally be in the gym at this hour but lockdown has beneficial consequences as nature is the preferable option.
For such a perceived gentle, placid place, Marlfield Lake was a hive of activity as Mother Nature was emerging from her reduced nocturnal slumber. I was greeted to the sounds of a grebe skimming across the water, a mother duck leading her brood to breakfast and mallards taking to flight.
Here was my opportunity! Only just being fully acquainted with the new lens, enabled by the assistance of continuous shoot and image stabilization, I was fortunate to capture the mallards in complete unison.
I grew up in Inishlounaght (Irish for Marlfield) and was too distracted as a youngster and beyond to behold the highly diverse range of wildlife available on our doorstep here in Clonmel. As I embark upon a more reflective time in my life, I am truly grateful to have such a natural, tranquil and at times bustling environment to contemplate and take the odd image or two.
